I decided in the end to take the day off work, waited for the rain to stop and then headed to the beach. The wind had been a good 25-30 knots all morning and was still blowing at around that from the South when I got there. Martin arrived at the same time as me. I rigged my 5m and wave board, but by the time I had, the Bristol Nomads had arrived and the wind had dropped (I'm not saying they are jinxed!). I then rigged my 5.7m and bigger (90ltr) board and got out on the water as the guinea pig sailor for the day. I was just about powered up for a while, but it wasn't great. The wind then died off even more so I gave up while the nomads and AndyW all rigged 6.5m sails and 100ltr boards and tried to do battle with the borth whitewater.

After watching them all get halfway out through the whitewater only to chicken gybe if lucky or get walloped if not so lucky, I decided to give it one last try. I jumped on my board, nicely powered up and headed straight out through the waves.. I was beginning to think I had some mystical planing powers today, but before long the wind had filled back in properly and everyone started to get planing properly and looked as thoughthey were having fun. And of course the casualties began. Adrian went through a sail and was changing down as I left to go to the dentist, Martin was nursing a pulled muscle and I'm sure by the end of the day there were more to add to the list... Borth was punishing any mistakes!

I had a great sail, lots of pretty good waves rides right ou the back and a few times I headed out to the waves breaking over the bar, some of which were logo high at times. And the sun was shining... Lovely.

Hope the Nomads can come back for some more soon... It isn't THAT far from Bristol.
